Resume

“I would say that I am more interested in contributing to contemporary thought than I am in contributing to contemporary art. The majority of recent work has been in collaboration with my creative partner and girlfriend Ashley Harris. This on-going body of work continues to evolve, but is centered on a common theme of humanity’s relationship with technology, and the earth. The power that technology has to mediate our lives by compartmentalizing moments, thoughts, and the human experience, is exemplified by the mis-match of our fast paced culture with the natural rhythms of the earth and the human body.”
-Dan

In this artist couples’ working process, each contributes their range of skills to create images that they would consider incomplete if created solo. Daniel is a self-taught digital artist. Using Photoshop since 1998, he refined his skills while earning his BFA in Photography at San Jose State University. He is also well grounded in wet lab photography techniques, such as gelatin silver printing and non-silver photographic processes.
Ashley comes from a tactile arts background, including hand-made papers, sewing and illustration. She is also proficient in the traditional techniques of photography, and incorporates her sewing and illustration skills into her images. She also received her BFA in Photography from San Jose State University.
Together, Ashley and Daniel tackle every stage of the image making process, contributing their own knowledge and problem solving skills. The creation of props and environments are also a crucial element in the couple’s working process. This fabricated style results in photography that is both illustrative and theatrical.
