The direction of my artwork has evolved to include images acquired from photographs of my parents and siblings. One thing that has affected this evolution is the fact that my father has Alzheimer's. It has made me rethink the importance of family, the roles of my parents and our relationships within the family.

Sometimes appearing as icons in my paintings, objects are often juxtaposed with human figures, referring to the relationship between my mother and my father or my father and family.

It is not my intent to create art about being Filipino. My paintings are about memory and family. In dealing with this subject matter, though, I can't avoid using images or iconography that relate to my culture.
